This is the last article in the series about careers in the sheet metal assembly field. This article will discuss finding a job. It will also explain a little about what to expect as far a working conditions when on the job.

Sheet metal assembly workers are often required to work long days, just as construction workers. It can be a physically demanding job that requires heavy lifting, climbing and standing. As with any construction related job injuries are possible. Safety is important and stressed often while on the job.

Sheet metal assembly workers do many various job duties.  They may not only be responsible for assembling a piece but also installing it.  As mentioned in the last article of this series, it can be confusing just what type of education or training a person needs to have a career in sheet metal assembly. 

Apprenticeships are by far the most popular method of training in the sheet metal assembly field.  Apprenticeships are basically training while on the job.  A person works and gets paid but at the same time is expected to learn the necessary skills.  Apprenticeships may also involve classroom learning that may or may not be paid.

A Career in Sheet Metal assembly Part 2

In the first part of this article series on careers in sheet metal assembly, a general overview of the job was given.  This article will focus on where a sheet metal assembly worker can expect to work.  The location will vary depending on the chosen field of the worker.  Some workers may work in many different locations, while others may stick to one location all the time.

Sometimes a sheet metal assembly worker will work on job sites.  They may work on job sites once they have finished at the plant or they work on site all the time.  For some assembly positions working in the field is a must.  For example, roof assembly must be done onsite.  The workers assemble the roofing as it is laid.
