Engineering

The engineering function at Crane MANUFACTURING COMPANY is responsible for establishing the manufacturing process and estimating product cost. Tooling requirements are also established by Engineering.

Crane is noted for the support it provides to its customers in new product development. This is accomplished by close interaction between our engineers and our customer’s engineers. In working closely during the new product development phase, parts can be designed for optimum manufacturability, maximum cost effectiveness and impressive levels of quality.

The Engineering Department uses CAD/CAM to translate customer part configurations into flat blanks, or strip layouts. Direct linkage with the NC punch presses and tool room equipment allows a seamless connection between the customer database and the production process at Crane.

Engineering maintains and distributes all necessary documentation to production, quality and suppliers. All revision changes are formalized and distributed to all required users by the engineering document control personnel.

  • Converts product concept and design into production with accuracy and speed
     
  • Allows us to process quickly and accurately from CAD designs to machine programs electronically; whether this is tooling design, stampings, machining or sheet metal fabrication
     
• The Baan information management system coordinates and integrates by estimating the sales, project management and production control.
   
• With our CAD platforms of PRO-E, AutoCAD and CADkey, coupled with translators such as IGES and DXF - we are capable of easy electronic transfer of your product data designs directly into our CAD systems.
   
• Our PRO-E platform offers quick electronic data conversions of 3D models to flat blank layouts to produce highly accurate fabricated sheet metal products. 
   
• Direct NC linkup to shop floor fabrication equipment enables machine operators and engineers to communicate "on-line" and quickly make adjustments in production volume levels or part configuration alterations without delaying production schedules.
