Purchasing

The purchasing function at Crane MANUFACTURING COMPANY is responsible for the cost effective acquisition of adequate quantities of high quality materials and services. Purchasing, quality and engineering jointly survey potential suppliers and select those that qualify for inclusion in our approved supplier listing.

Suppliers remain approved by maintaining prescribed performance levels. Supplier performance data is collected and reported monthly. Failure to perform to the expected level of quality results in a corrective action request being issued.

Maintaining a capable supplier base is the highest priority for Crane purchasing. This is accomplished by carefully surveying potential suppliers and selecting only those that are capable. Continuous performance feedback and open lines of communication ensure that potential problems are known and reconciled before the situation becomes critical to Crane and our customers.

Crane includes key suppliers in the quality training sessions that are provided to all employees. These training sessions focus on problem solving and process improvement methods that benefit both Crane and our supplier.
