Sales
The sales function at Crane MANUFACTURING COMPANY
is responsible for contract initiation and review. Sales
also process customer order through the order entry
system to ensure a seamless connection among all
necessary function at Crane and the customer’s
purchasing process. Revisions to original customer
requirements are processed through the change notice
system, which is maintained by sales.
Sales are a focal point for all issues of customer
service and provide the personal interaction that is
essential for the prompt resolution of customer concerns.
Sales also manage the customer complaint systems that
monitor nine major categories of customer complaints
ranging from communications issues to late deliveries.
This system routes significant or recurrent problems to
the corrective/preventive action system for resolution.
Purchasing
The purchasing function at Crane MANUFACTURING
COMPANY is responsible for the cost effective acquisition
of adequate quantities of high quality materials and
services. Purchasing, quality and engineering jointly
survey potential suppliers and select those that qualify
for inclusion in our approved supplier listing.
Suppliers remain approved by maintaining prescribed
performance levels. Supplier performance data is
collected and reported monthly. Failure to perform to the
expected level of quality results in a corrective action
request being issued.
Maintaining a capable supplier base is the highest
priority for Crane purchasing. This is accomplished by
carefully surveying potential suppliers and selecting
only those that are capable. Continuous performance
feedback and open lines of communication ensure that
potential problems are known and reconciled before the
situation becomes critical to Crane and our customers.
Crane includes key suppliers in the quality training
sessions that are provided to all employees. These
training sessions focus on problem solving and process
improvement methods that benefit both Crane and our
supplier.
